Think Inside the Box with Chou La La

Wednesday 20 December 2017

Isn’t everyone just striving to make a curated capsule wardrobe that is sensible and stylish?! Well for us adults this post really isn’t the answer to your prayers but it is for our little ones in our life! I had the pleasure of working with a sweet Canadian company based out of Montreal called Chou La La who make you think inside of the box! They have curated beautiful and stylish pieces with various price point options that can fit any budget!
They have thought of everything down to the shipping box that you can use with your little one (crayons are included)!
We received the Boho Chic Chica in blue which contained ten pieces that can be intermixed with one another to make over 30 outfit options! It is also encouraged to mix within your own existing wardrobe! I loved this concept as who doesn’t love having someone do the leg work for you as getting dressed isn’t always the easiest feat with toddlers in the morning.

How pretty are these colours? Love the small details!

I love the colours of this collection and how they compliment my own style as I’ve never been too keen on super bright in your face colours. These are all well paired and give a really sweet sense of style! There were a lot of pieces I would have totally bought in a store for Linden but a few were ones I would have never considered, to my surprise once we tried them they were a great addition to her wardrobe!

Some may think the price may be a bit steep for some budgets but when you break it down an outfit is less than $15! That’s savings right there and to top it off these outfits are made to fit for a season or three months! With Linden growing out of everything its nice to know there are staple pieces that she can continue to use for a bit! Now with that being said because they use various brands some of the sizes vary in style but I’ve been able to make it work and some pieces will last even longer than expected.
This sweater shrunk but with the balloon sleeves and easy fix by pushing them up!
As busy mom of two I throw basically e v e r y t h i n g into the wash as its easier for little things to be just thrown together and 90% of things go right into the dryer. Everything washed fine together but unfortunately based on materials used you do have to be conscientious as to what goes into the dryer! I had two items shrink on me but luckily based on the style she can still wear with no worries!

As for wearability, Linden wore all the pieces at varying times within the month but to be perfectly honest the dressier items were not as well loved as during the weekdays Linden plays hard at Montessori. With that being said, the pants including the light coloured beige ones came home well loved but fresh and new after washing with no holes!

Great pieces that even small hands can help with!

These boxes would make great gifts for various stages and milestones including birthdays, blessings, and late Christmas gifts! For those who are still on the hunt for something unique and stylish I’d highly recommend looking into this! Right now you can use the discount code 15OFF for 15% off and they also have a flash sale going on until December 21 where you can receive $20 towards an accessory or shoe with purchase of a box! Hoping that they come out with some mama-friendly boxes as I’m totally in need of a wardrobe revamp! Thanks again for reading and hope you all have a wonderful Christmas holiday!

Bonjour automne

Wednesday 18 October 2017

Finally! The weather has taken a turn to the cooler side and I could not be happier! Since cutting my hair I've found it to easier to style which is a big mommy bonus (cause is there ever any time alone to get ready with kids?) and now with shorter hair I find that hats have become a great accessory to dress up any outfit or just hide unwashed hair.
With my love for ball caps aside, I have been getting more adventurous and trying new shapes and styles to compliment my wardrobe. I grabbed this velvet black baker boy hat at Winners and absolutely love it! I love how the texture gives it a little more dimension to the hat so it doesn't just camouflage with my own black hair and it definitely brings some sophistication to this outfit. Paired with my very Parisian inspired outfit I feel like this look can take you from day to night easily!

Hope you're all enjoying the fall weather wherever you may be and I wish that those who don't own any hats take the plunge on some new head accessories for this season! For my hat lovers out there let me know which ones are your favourites!

Thankful

Friday 6 October 2017

In a world with such sadness I find it imperative to teach my children that there is still good in our world. As we head into our Thanksgiving long weekend I cannot help but be so grateful for the life that I have been provided. I only hope my kids will be able to grow up and continue to be loving and kind people who will change this world for the better.
When I think of Thanksgiving, I always love to embrace natural colours and tones on my dinner table and outfit choice. This dress totally nails the part as it gives off beautiful tones of brown and indigo and flows so effortlessly. Paired with a denim jacket, this outfit is casual yet chic and would be perfect for any gathering.

Black will always be the new Black

Wednesday 4 October 2017

We are well into October yet you wouldn't know it around here since we're experiencing a heat w a v e that is making me melt! Do not get me wrong I do not mind the heat but fall is my absolute favourite season for so many reasons and it really is the best for fashion! I am all about layers and accessorizing with hats, scarves, and jackets but this heat is really making it difficult to bundle up!
So lately I've been adding a few little details to my outfits to embrace all my love for fall. For starters I have been on a hat craze. I literally want to own every felt hat I see and I'm not ashamed to say it! I feel like these hats give so much more character to an outfit and not to mention help with lack of hair styling for the busy mama on the go!
Dark denim is another love of mine during the fall months and I have been gravitating towards a more high-waisted style to help keep this mommy tummy under control!
I have also been living in these mule slip-on loafers! These have been great as they give any look a little sophistication (including a simple outfit like a t-shirt and jeans) and as a busy mama being able to slip on and go is key!

As the weather cools I hope to share some more fall must-haves that I know I'll be rocking in the weeks to come!
Hope you're all enjoying all the fall things and talk to you soon!

Chasing the Sun

Friday 8 September 2017

Hello September! As much as I love having fun in the summer sun, there's nothing quite like the crisp fall air and although we still have a few weeks before it's officially fall, my birthday (Labour Day weekend) always gets me into the spirit of fall and all its greatness! Like who doesn't love layering pieces, getting cozy, and PSL?!
I love this transitional outfit, the short sleeved sweater goes so well with some ripped denim. The short sleeves gives you some air while its still warm and paired with slides makes it look super chic! I definitely know there are a few pairs on my wish list for the season that can dress up and down any look!
| Hat: ASOS, similar | Necklace: Jenny Bird X Indigo, on sale | Sweater: Winners | Jeans: H&M, similar | Shoes: Aldo, these are fun |

Let me know what some of your go to transitional pieces are for fall and stay tuned for some more looks that showcase items that will last throughout the summer and fall!
